The technical documents for a batch of existing equipment specify requirements for the product test plates as shown in the figure. Regarding the P2 test specimen mentioned in clause 4.8.3, I am unable to understand this clause; I would appreciate it if you could provide some guidance. Thank you
Usually, there are only test plates for Type A welds; I have never encountered test plates for products with Type D welds before – this is the first time I see such something
We only fabricate test plates in accordance with the code requirements and GB/T150 standards. No D-type weld joint test plates have been made – what standards require this anyway?
The NB/T47016 standard also does not contain any provisions regarding Class D weld joint test plates. Which expert prepared the technical document?
The main material of this device is Q345R (R-HIC). It is known that such materials are used in environments exposed to H2 and wet H2S. I’m not sure why the designers have made such requirements for the test specimens of this product; as the manufacturer, it’s difficult to meet these requirements and there is no clear basis for them. What are others’ opinions on this?
That P2 is just a simulated test board; it doesn’t serve much purpose and lacks true representativeness. A welding assessment is sufficient.
It’s the same for us; they require a welding certification document for the manhole fittings that are welded to the shell plates. The manhole fittings (which are equivalent to straight pipes) are of the plug-in type, and combined welds (angle welds and butt welds) are formed with the shell plates. They ask for a certification document, but it seems there’s no standard specifying this.

Although the cylinder and nozzle welding joints are classified as Category D, their actual definition refers to butt weld fillet joints; the method used for covering them depends on the local pressure vessel inspection agency, as each agency may have a different interpretation of the standards. A few years ago in Guangzhou, such joints were changed to be covered using two weld evaluations: one to cover the thickness of the pipe fitting and another to cover the thickness of the cylinder; if it is possible to cover both thicknesses simultaneously, then one weld evaluation is used. If it’s really difficult to operate, you can consult the boiler inspection agency and the design party
Maybe they didn’t understand what I meant. What is meant here are the product test boards that come with the product. It’s not a weld evaluation test plate; it would be great if it were one. Anyone who works in welding knows how to handle it

Do you mean a Type A weld like a straight groove, to be welded together with the test plate? It’s also not possible to weld together the product test plates for the Class A joints of the take over and the cylinder
