For pressure vessels designed in accordance with the analysis and design standards of JB4732, wall thinning is detected during regular inspections. How should the strength be calculated? Should it be calculated using the methods specified in JB4732, rather than applying the strength formulas from GB150?
The calculation formulas for cylinder heads are basically the same; JB4732 focuses more on local aspects. To preliminarily assess whether the wall thickness after thinning is safe, GB150.Φ can be used with a value of 1. To strictly determine whether the local stresses after thinning exceed the allowable limits, JB4732 must be applied.
Is the corrosion margin exceeded? If it does not exceed (any point on all parts), no action is required. For calculations, JB4732 should be used.
It is recommended to use software such as ANSYS for simulation calculations in accordance with JB4732. In my opinion, the thickness should not be based on the actual value; instead, the corrosion that occurs over the specified service life must be taken into account when making the calculations. Regardless of the calculation results, whether the device can be used depends on the judgment by the special inspection agency (or similar body) regarding whether the pressure vessel in use is permissible for operation, and is unrelated to the calculation results.

Just use formula 4732 to calculate the cylinder wall thickness; it’s not that complicated
