As the title suggests, the carbon content in 904L material is above the specified limit; are the other elements considered acceptable since they are within the standard range? The content is in accordance with GB/T20878-2007; the standard carbon content ranges from 0.02, while the actual value measured is 0.027. What effects might this have if it is used?
According to the GB/T222-2006 standard, the allowable deviation for the C content is 0.005 both for the upper and lower limits. In other words, the C content specified in your warranty certificate exceeds the allowed range, so it is considered Unqualified. A high carbon content can affect the corrosion resistance.
With L, it means ultra-low carbon. They are emphasizing the C content.
If the carbon content is high, it is no longer called “L”, and its corrosion resistance decreases.
