Gentlemen, how should frequent leaks from steam tracing and water tracing lines be dealt with (leaks that occur in the form of pinholes at the pipe clamp welds)? What type of welding rod do you all use for heat-treatment welding?
Leaks in heating systems are a common occurrence. Conventional designs use carbon steel pipelines for heating, which are turned off after winter, but the systems cannot be thoroughly purged; rust formation is inevitable over time, and leaks occur after repeated incidents. The problem is more severe in areas where the welding quality is poor. As a result, some companies switch to stainless steel pipelines for heating; although this increases the initial investment, it yields excellent performance. Some companies even use stainless steel welded pipes for steam tracing at pressures below 1.0 MPa, and it is reported that the results are good.
If it is a carbon steel pipe, how should the welding process and electrodes be selected?
