During manufacturing, the excess height of the welds on the pressure vessel is ground flat. How can such welds be identified during the regular inspection of the pressure vessel?
Check the weld layout diagram or arrangement plan in the as-built documents; there is positioning information for the welds.
This doesn’t seem quite accurate either; the images and diagrams are only approximate.
Weld layout diagram or weld markings on the actual component. . If neither is present, then it’s out of control.
By comparing the software version with the actual item, traces remain even after grinding; they are easily visible upon close inspection.
It becomes unreadable after surface oxidation!
You must be referring to carbon steel. There should be a welder’s mark number next to the welds on carbon steel containers, as well as a code indicating the material of the container; that information can usually be found at those locations.
Before smoothing the weld, it is standard practice to make marks at a certain distance from the weld for easy reference later on!
