Why cannot electroslag welding be used for welding the chromium-molybdenum steel matrix materials in hydrogenation equipment?
Can’t the hydrogenation reactor be welded using electroslag welding? Where is such a rule?
Hydrogenation equipment? It depends on what your material is – it could be a titanium composite plate, or it could be Cr-Mo steel; it’s easier to say something more specific
Electroslag welding generates a large amount of heat; the joint remains at high temperatures for an extended period, which leads to overheating in the area surrounding the weld. The weld metal adopts a coarse-grained, as-cast structure, resulting in low impact toughness. In the case of Cr-Mo steel, this process can easily cause delayed cracking. Furthermore, electroslag welding is not included in the NB47015 welding procedure specifications, so it cannot be used for welding pressure-bearing equipment
