Teachers: For large crude oil storage tanks, theoretical calculations show that an insulation thickness of 20 mm or less is sufficient to meet the requirements, but almost all design institutes specify an insulation thickness of 80 mm for such tanks. The SH3010 specifications state that the insulation thickness should be at least 20 mm, with increases in increments of 10 mm. For crude oil storage tanks with a capacity of tens of thousands of cubic meters, are there any other reasons that would support the use of an 80-mm thick wall? Thank you.
Attention should be paid to the thickness of the insulation products purchased. You calculated it to be 20 mm thick, but if only 40 mm thick insulation is available for purchase, then you will have to pay extra for the workers to cut it open for you.
