Thought question 15: If the welding coefficient for a shell is taken as 0.85, meaning local inspection is applied, then how should the butt welds found on the small nozzles or nozzle flanges of the shell be inspected?
As specified in the oil design documents. But if the design unit is not the manufacturing unit, this becomes more complicated; it is generally not specified in the drawings. If the manufacturing factory raises technical questions, the usual response is that it should be the same as the main welds\ud83d\ude23
That’s what it means; by default, it is the same as the main weld.
There is such a claim, and it is also said that the default theme welds are inspected in the same way. Are there any that only do surface PT or MT?
Is there such a thing as performing RT testing only on the lower surface PT or MT as a replacement for small-diameter butt welds?
For local inspection of the main weld, Class B joints of fittings with a DN of less than 250, whether they are fittings to each other or to flanges, are not required to be inspected per the standard. If 100% inspection of the main weld is carried out, then surface inspection is necessary.

The design specifies that a surface inspection is generally carried out, and for critical areas, RT is specified in the design

This applies to circumferential seams; the requirements for longitudinal seams are the same as those for the main welds. Clause GB150.410.4 applies to all containers that are subject to testing. The requirements for local detection are not mentioned.
