Our unit has an acidic material with a solid content of 0.5% and a particle size of 30 microns; currently we use plate and frame filter presses, which take up a lot of space, and we plan to replace them. Using plate and frame filters is a good option at the moment; we plan to switch to automatic unloading systems. However, one problem is that these systems take up a lot of space, and they also cause significant odor emissions. Given the strict environmental regulations, it’s necessary to enclose the entire area where these plate and frame filters are used for odor absorption, which is quite troublesome. Natural settling takes too long, and a large sedimentation tank is also required. I’ve also considered using stacked spiral filters; these also require coagulants. I plan to give it a try. I was wondering if anyone else has any good filtration options that don’t require high levels of moisture removal from the solids, as this material will go into a reactor later on, where more water will be added.
When it comes to centrifuges, there is surely one that can meet your process requirements. You can choose a horizontal piston-fed centrifuge with a drum lined with fluoroplastic; this will satisfy your process needs.
