Is it necessary to conduct a new welding procedure qualification when changing the submerged arc welding flux from HJ431 to SJ101? I asked a welding professional, and he said it depends on the type of flux; if the flux types are the same, then it can be used for welding procedure qualification. The key is that I can’t provide him with the type of flux. The type of flux is indicated on the flux quality certificate.
