There is a rectangular container, whose outer shell surface is equipped with longitudinal and transverse angle steel reinforcement ribs. Currently, some people believe that the reinforcement ribs should be welded before the steel plate is used to fabricate and weld the cylinder body. Others believe that the reinforcing ribs should be welded after the tube assembly is completed. I would appreciate it if experts could comment on which approach is more reasonable. Is there any specific description or requirement for this welding sequence in standards or literature?

Both welding first and welding later have their advantages and disadvantages. When the container wall panels are formed as individual pieces, welding the reinforcement ribs first results in higher efficiency; it is also easier to control welding deformation and to correct any distortions. However, this approach requires precise alignment of the angle steel components, as well as strict control over the dimensions of each individual wall panel. Welding the angle steel after overall forming is difficult, and controlling deformation is also challenging.
Based on a comprehensive comparison, it is recommended to weld the reinforcement bars first, followed by overall assembly.
If reinforcement ribs are welded later, they will exert additional stress on the previously welded seams, which is detrimental to the critical welds.
