Before the plant was shut down, floating particles of T66 (the liquid heat transfer medium) were found in the liquid seal tank. After the plant was stopped, leaks were checked; however, due to the small size of the leak points, applying air pressure did not result in any drop in pressure. I would appreciate any advice on effective methods for detecting leaks in the heat transfer coil inside the reactor. Manager’s discussion group
It seems like only pressure testing is available. Try it in liquid
Ammonia leak detection; if that doesn’t work, use helium leak detection. If helium cannot be detected, there is no leak.

That’s troublesome. Could it be like some high-temperature slurry valves, which are airtight at normal temperatures and show no issues during pressure testing, but experience oil leakage and smoking on their surface at high temperatures, with such problems only detectable through the presence of tiny sand holes?
It’s really tough if even a highly sensitive helium leak detector can’t detect it.
In the manufacturing plant where I work, there are generally three methods for detecting leaks: using soapy water after inflating the area to spot leaks, submerging the entire area in water after inflation to look for bubbles, or using test strips with ammonia to detect leaks.
