I would like to ask the experts: For a pressure vessel, according to the drawings, specimens of the sheet metal, flange forgings, nozzles, as well as welding joints are all required to undergo testing for intergranular corrosion using Method A. The material certificates for sheets, forgings, fittings, and weldments all include reports on intergranular corrosion. So I would like to ask the experts: does my welded joint (welded specimen) also require a corrosion test? If it’s not necessary, then is my original PQR (non-A method) still applicable? Conversely, a new PQR will have to be created!

The welding process is one of melting followed by cooling, which is equivalent to undergoing heat treatment; the state resulting from heat treatment may differ from that of the raw material. Therefore, as a precaution, various tests required for the raw materials also need to be conducted on the welded joints. As for laws and regulations, standard requirements, and the like. I’m not sure either if there are any relevant regulations. The above are purely personal opinions.
There is no need to redo the PQR using method A; the original PQR from method B can be used. However, it is necessary to create test specimens using method A as specified in the drawings. This is a requirement put forward by the designer, and as the manufacturer, it is essential to meet the requirements outlined in the design drawings.
My base material and welding materials have both passed the intergranular corrosion test, and I am now preparing to conduct tests on the cladded metal
For this product, which requires the preparation of welding test pieces, the welding test pieces shall be made in accordance with the originally evaluated welding process, and the Intergranular Corrosion Test Method A shall be conducted additionally and included in the original evaluation.
