Why are the results of HTRI when running in design mode different from those in simulation mode?

Why are the results obtained when HTRI is run in design mode different from those obtained in simulation mode? For example, the area calculated in design mode is 16.5 square meters, while it is 10.8 square meters in simulation mode. In which mode should it be run to obtain the most accurate results? I would appreciate it if experts could help explain this. Thank you
For newly designed heat exchangers, simulation calculations are first carried out in simulation mode (many parameters can be left as defaults); after those calculations are completed, detailed design is done using the design mode. Therefore, there is a difference between the two approaches. It is recommended to run the final design using the calculation mode as well to verify it
