Mandatory requirements for explosive media: The mandatory requirements for pressure vessels containing explosive (Group 1) media are as follows: 01 To minimize the leakage of the medium outside through the safety valve, it is possible to use the safety valve in series with a burst disc. 02 The burst disc safety device shall not be used alone, but may be connected in series with a safety valve. 03 Flammable compressed gases and flammable liquefied gas spheres shall undergo leak tests. 04 Fireproofing layers should be installed on the pillars of spherical tanks storing explosive materials. 05 For spherical tanks containing explosive media, weld joints of types A and B shall be subjected to 100% ultrasonic or radiographic inspection. 06 Spherical tanks containing explosive liquefied gases shall be equipped with at least two safety valves, one in use and one as a backup. 07 Packing box type heat exchangers shall not be used. 08 The minimum thickness of the tube sheet shall not be less than the outer diameter of the heat exchange tubes.

A spherical tank holding explosive liquefied gas should be equipped with at least two safety valves, one in use and one as a backup. The standard wording is: The discharge capacity of any safety valve shall meet the requirement for the maximum discharge capacity of the spherical tank in an emergency situation. Does it mean one in use and one as a spare?
