The attached figure is Appendix D of GB150; which category does the weld shown in the figure belong to?
Why shouldn’t the joint weld between the sleeve and the inner cylinder be classified as Class C?

What the teacher upstairs said is correct; both Category C and Category D are fine. As explained in ASME: The classification used here refers to the position of the joint on the vessel, rather than the type of joint, and is intended to specify the special requirements regarding the type of pressure-bearing welded joints and the extent of inspection. Since these special requirements are determined based on the application, materials, and thickness, only those joints that have such special requirements are included in this classification; these requirements apply to the joints in question only when specifically stated. So as long as their testing requirements are the same, their uses are the same, and so on, no one should worry about what it’s called.
There is a fundamental difference in the classification of ASME and 150 welded joints
I have been working on pressure vessels for over 20 years; regarding such issues, different companies use various classification systems, and I never interfere in those matters. Because everyone knows there will be no outcome.
What I mean is to discuss the 150 standard; stop talking about ASME. Which organization doesn’t have both U1 and A1 certifications? I’ve been in this field for just as long as you have
