Is the section from the safety valve of the atmospheric pressure tank to the flare pipeline a pressure pipeline?
Look at the design pressure and design temperature of the pipeline; generally speaking, such a discharge pipeline is not a pressure pipeline
The design institute carries out the design using empirical values, taking into account the process of emergency shutdown of the entire plant; the pressure in the flare line is 0.23 Mpa. Is this empirical value reasonable?
The determination of the experience value requires a comprehensive assessment based on factors such as the amount of emissions, the distance from the farthest point of emission to the flare, and the diameter of the emission pipes. Generally, the distance to the flare is quite large; however, since the emissions are mainly in gas form, in my opinion this pressure is too high
I also discussed this with the design institute; there is a possibility that the flare medium could backflow into the container, which increases the risk, so it’s better not to include a flare line.
It is possible to consider introducing nitrogen at the starting point of the flare line, with a small amount of nitrogen flowing continuously to prevent the backflow of combustible gases
Whether it is a pressure pipeline is determined by the maximum operating pressure, temperature, and state of the medium.
Generally, the maximum operating pressure is below 0.1 MPa, so it does not fall under the category of pressure pipelines.
