In the drawings from a certain design institute, there is a fitting made of Q345D material on the left end cap; its outer diameter is 168 mm and the wall thickness is 12 mm. The calculation sheet provided is shown in the figure below. However, when the original poster used SW6 to conduct calculations, no values greater than 10 mm were found. Similarly, GB150 also stipulates that the wall thickness of Q345D steel pipes cannot exceed 10 mm. Questions: 1. How did this design institute address the issue of reinforcing openings in Q345D pipes with wall thicknesses greater than 10 mm? 2. For Q345D pipes larger than 10 mm, how to address the lack of data regarding hole reinforcement in SW6?

This post was last edited by Paris on 2022-7-8 08:32. Are you sure the Q345D material you want to use is in accordance with the GB8163 standard? Instead of Q345D in version GB6479-2013? If the Q345D standard specified in GB8163 clearly states that it is not allowed to use it when the thickness is greater than 10 mm, then why use it? If you want to use Q345D as specified in version GB6479-2013, you can choose 16Mn (which corresponds to 16Mn in version GB6479-2000), and then modify the material specification in the calculation sheet.
The material standard for the nozzle material Q345D listed in SW6 is GB/T8163; due to the restrictions of the GB150 standard, the thickness cannot exceed 10. 16Mn fittings in accordance with the GB/T6479-2000 standard can be used; in practice, Q345D from the GB/T6479-2013 standard is used as a substitute.
Since the standard has not been updated, the allowable stress for 16Mn is the same as that for Q345D; in the resulting calculation sheet, it should be modified or noted that the pipe material 16Mn is equivalent to Q345D.
