Set pressure refers to the predetermined pressure when the safety valve disc starts to open under operating conditions, and is the gauge pressure measured at the valve inlet. At this pressure, under specified operating conditions, the force generated by the medium pressure to open the valve and the force that keeps the valve disc on the valve balance each other. At this pressure, there begins to be a measurable opening height, and the medium exhibits a continuous discharge state that can be perceived visually or audibly.
The set pressure is not the gauge pressure at the outlet of the safety valve, but the pressure within the sealing surface when the safety valve takes off.
