Full penetration, no undercutting, and no internal defects are required!
Welding materials for containers governed by TSG21-2016 shall meet the requirements of standard NB/T47018. Moreover, the welding quality shall meet the requirements specified in the drawings ; Be aware that it is not possible to weld all the heat exchange tubes in the shell side of the heat exchanger and then perform overall heat treatment.
It doesn’t matter what method is used for welding; what’s important is that it meets your welding qualification requirements! It meets your welding process requirements! !
Seems like it’s not possible. The specifications clearly require argon arc backing.
For the root welding, TIG welding should be used, or welding with backing plates is necessary
Generally speaking, TIG welding is more suitable for the root pass; when using MIG welding, achieving single-sided welding with a double-sided finish without any defects on the back side requires high skill levels from the welder, which makes it less economical.
