During the pressure test of the container, the level gauge generally does not need to be tested together. Level gauges are primarily used to monitor the liquid level in a container, and they do not experience pressure directly. Therefore, when conducting a hydraulic test on a container, it is usually only necessary to apply pressure to the container itself, without the need to test the level gauge. However, in some special cases, if the level gauge is directly connected to the container and may be affected by pressure, it may be necessary to pressure-test the level gauge to ensure that it functions properly and can transmit accurate level information. Whether pressure testing is actually necessary depends on the specific circumstances. .
Level gauges are not required to undergo pressure testing along with pressure vessels. For level gauges used in pressure vessels with a design pressure of less than 10 MPa, a pressure test must be carried out at 1.5 times the nominal pressure of the gauge before it is installed and put into use; Level gauges for pressure vessels with a design pressure of 10 MPa or higher shall be subjected to a hydraulic test at 1.25 times the nominal pressure of the gauge. Then select the level gauge based on the design or the maximum allowable operating pressure. Level gauges used for explosive substances, those with extremely high toxicity, and liquefied gases must be equipped with leakage prevention devices; it is advisable to conduct leakage tests on the level gauges themselves.
Container manufacturers will not and do not need to install level gauges for pressure testing; the users of the containers must install level gauges after the containers are installed and then conduct pressure testing (or test the entire production system as a whole).
