Purpose of equipment inspection: Inspection is a fundamental system in workshop equipment management. Its purpose is to accurately assess the technical condition of equipment through inspections, maintain and improve its operational performance, prevent accidents, reduce downtime, extend the equipment’s lifespan, lower maintenance costs, and ensure normal production. 3. The eight elements of equipment inspection (1) Designate personnel: Identify the people responsible for inspecting the equipment. (2) Designated points: Identify the fault locations of the equipment, as well as the specific areas, items, and contents to be inspected. (3) Quantification: Quantitative measurement of the degradation tendency. (4) Fixed cycle: Different inspection cycles are assigned for different devices and their failure points. (5) Establishing standards: Provide the basis for determining whether each inspection point is normal, that is, the criteria for judgment. (6) Fixed-point inspection schedule: The inspection schedule, also known as a work card, guides inspectors to perform their tasks along a prescribed route. (7) Fixed records: including operation records, anomaly records, fault records, and trend records, all have a fixed format. (8) Scheduled inspection process: Define the procedures for inspection tasks and the handling of inspection results. For issues that require urgent handling, notify the maintenance staff ; Issues that do not require immediate attention are recorded for planned inspection and handling. Inspection is a dynamic management process that is combined with maintenance. III. Differences between equipment inspection and routine patrols1. Scope and frequency of inspections: Inspection involves a comprehensive check of the overall performance of the equipment, as well as its key components and vulnerable parts. It takes relatively more time, and is usually conducted once per cycle. Inspection, on the other hand, involves routine patrols and checks of the equipment; it takes a relatively short amount of time, usually being carried out once every 1-2 hours. 2. Inspection methods and contents: The inspection methods typically include visual inspection, tactile inspection, and inspection using measuring instruments. The inspection contents mainly cover the operating condition of the equipment, vibration levels, temperature, oil pressure, etc., as well as whether there is any wear, deformation, or loosening in the vulnerable parts. Inspections mainly involve visual checks and the use of simple tools to assess the operational status and appearance of the equipment, such as checking for any abnormal noises, unusual odors, or leaks. 3. Handling of inspection results: The results of inspections can reveal potential problems or faults in the equipment, allowing timely measures to be taken for repair or replacement, thereby preventing failures or damage to the equipment during operation. The inspection results are primarily used to detect any abnormalities in the equipment in a timely manner, so that appropriate actions can be taken and reports can be prepared. 4. Professional competence of inspectors: Inspectors need to possess high levels of professional knowledge and skills, with an in-depth understanding of the performance, structure, and principles of equipment, enabling them to conduct accurate inspections and evaluations. Inspection personnel only need to have basic knowledge of equipment and safety operation skills. 5. Management approach: Inspection is typically carried out by dedicated personnel, with each inspector responsible for the inspection and maintenance of a specific set of equipment. Clear records and reports are kept regarding the operating condition of the equipment as well as any maintenance activities that have been performed. Inspections are usually carried out on a shift basis or through rotation among multiple personnel, and the inspectors do not need to have in-depth knowledge of or control over the equipment.
