Once I have chosen the container flange, how should I select the sealing surface for the flange?
When the medium is flammable, explosive, toxic, or highly permeable, male and female flanges should be used.
In other words, it’s fine for me to choose a corrugated flange directly, right?
Planar flanges are easy to machine...

The sealing surface is determined based on the flange pressure rating, the properties of the medium, whether leakage is permitted, and the operating temperature; the commonly used sealing surfaces for chemical flanges are RJ and RF
It’s possible, but it’s not necessarily reasonable. Of course it’s fine to use the best options available, but the problem is that the boss might not agree to it
There are no regulations; it’s up to you. At least concave-convex flanges are easy to align. If the boss is worried about costs, then one has to follow the boss’s decision.
In most cases, a convex surface is sufficient; for pressures above 600 pounds, consider using a ring-shaped connection surface.
