The China Coal Yulin project is the first coal chemical project approved by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment since the introduction of China’s \"3060\" dual-carbon strategy goals; it holds great significance for promoting the clean and efficient use of coal and ensuring energy security. Lanshi Heavy Equipment undertook the task of manufacturing 14 key core equipment units for the gasification, purification, and methanol synthesis processes in this 2.2 million tons per year methanol production project; this work was carried out jointly by the Refining and Chemicals Branch and the Mobile Factory Branch. The first unit delivered this time – the transformed gas scrubber – is made of low-temperature steel. It weighs 1,200 tons, is 110 meters long, and has a diameter of 4.6 meters. The Lansi Heavy Equipment Installation project team overcame various challenges, including the large size of the equipment, numerous changes in diameter, the complexity of key processes such as welding and pressure testing, And the difficulty of achieving precise control over straightness and ellipticity. By successfully completing the manufacturing task, they marked an important progress in the project, laying a solid foundation for the accelerated production of subsequent units. At present, the manufacturing of the remaining 13 units is progressing in an orderly and intense manner according to the plan, with an overall completion rate of 70%.
The preliminary investment estimate for the China Coal Yulin Coal Deep Processing Base project is 23.888 billion yuan. The main construction activities include producing 2.2 million tons per year of methanol and 900,000 tons per year of polyolefins; at the same time, the existing first-phase coal chemical plant will be optimized and upgraded, with projects for producing 250,000 tons per year of LDPE/EVA through chain extension and enhancement being carried out. The main units of the project include air separation, gasification, purification, sulfur recovery, methanol synthesis, MTO, olefin separation, 3 polyolefin plants, and 1 EVA plant, among others. Completion of construction and commissioning are expected by mid-2026. Once the project is put into operation, it will effectively promote local economic and social development as well as the optimization and upgrading of the industrial structure; during peak periods, it can create employment opportunities for tens of thousands of people. By then, China Coal Shaanxi Company will further enhance the new advantages of its role as the leading enterprise in the industrial chain, promote the development of coal chemical industry in a direction toward higher quality, greater diversity, lower carbon emissions, as well as integrated development with coal mining, coal-fired power generation, and new energy sources, thereby creating a robust industrial and value chain.
