Dear experts on this forum, I have a question for you: For product design, oval end caps made of ASTM B366 WPNICMC UNS N08825 in the 8” Sch.100 specification are required, but it is not possible to obtain end caps of this specification (due to the requirements of qualified suppliers). Is it possible to use forgings made of ASTM B564 UNS N08825 and machine them into end caps instead? I hope the experts here will be kind enough to offer their guidance!
If you can buy it somewhere that is not a qualified supplier. . . A purchase request can be submitted once. This standard does not prohibit vehicle processing
Thank you so much for your comment! Indeed, per clause 5.3 of ASTM B366 standard, it is possible to omit the forming process, but the requirements regarding heat treatment must be approved by the customer. Foreigners are so picky; there’s really nothing you can do about it.
