Seeking help: Heat exchange issues with spray cooling water. Source of the spray water: Cooling of metal surfaces (heat treatment, surface temperature around 1400°C); water at 25°C is used for spray cooling. Spray water flow rate: 5t/h. Actual site: The water vapor is directly removed using an exhaust fan and discharged into the atmosphere (at atmospheric pressure). The fan flow rate is approximately 15,000 m3/h. Design objective: To utilize the heat from the spray water (water mist) through a heat exchanger, either by absorbing that heat or by recovering the condensed water. Help: What type of heat exchanger should be used, and what is the approximate required heat exchange area? (Heat exchange with water at 25°C) Please help, experts – even just a brief suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you!

In this operating condition, air inevitably gets mixed in, so to recover as much moisture as possible, the temperature should be lowered further. It is recommended to use gas-gas membrane plate heat exchangers; PVC material can be used when the temperature is not high, while aluminum foil or stainless steel should be used for higher temperatures.
