A fixed-tube-sheet heat exchanger also has end caps on both sides, and a floating-head heat exchanger likewise has end caps on both sides. If there is no expansion joint in the middle of a fixed-tube-sheet heat exchanger, how can one determine that it is a fixed-tube-sheet heat exchanger? This post was last edited by zdl1966 on 2018-3-9 at 20:21. The floating-head heat exchanger also has end caps on both sides, with the material entering and exiting from the same side (top or bottom), and its flange connections are different, consisting of three pieces.
Why are there two partition plates instead of one in the tube side of a fixed-tube-sheet heat exchanger? With one partition plate, it is a double-pass design, while with two partition plates, it is a triple-pass design.
The answer to this question posed by the original poster cannot be explained in just a few words; the most obvious feature of floating-head heat exchangers is that their rear end cap is one size larger than that of the tube box cap. There are various types of fixed-tube-sheet heat exchangers. It is recommended to first take a look at Figures 6-1 to 6-7 in GB/T151-2014, which show the composition of the various components of the heat exchanger.
The original poster is just starting to work with heat exchangers, right? Take a closer look at GB/T151 – the differences are quite obvious actually.
