When connecting the heat exchanger tube sheet to the tubes, if the materials are the same, why can using surfacing save money?
If only the tube side is corroded while the shell side is not, cladding with alloy steel tube plates can be used; the larger the dimensions of the tube plate (outer diameter and thickness), the greater the cost savings, and the advantages of shaped tube plates are not significant in this case.
If surfacing is not used, the joining method would be adhesive bonding, right?
Does surfacing have nothing to do with the connection method?
Cladding refers to the process of depositing corrosion-resistant stainless steel on alloy steel plates; by leveraging the high strength of alloy steel and the corrosion resistance of stainless steel, it is possible to reduce the amount of stainless steel used and thus lower costs.
Cladding is used to avoid welding dissimilar steels; moreover, the larger the diameter and thickness, the more cost savings are achieved in terms of materials. The price difference between carbon steel forgings and stainless steel forgings is quite significant
