Can a valve be installed at the outlet of the steam drum in medium-pressure boilers?

Of course. Didn’t your steam drums have control valves for export before? So how did you control the pressure before?

I have worked on waste heat boilers before, with a pressure of 4.8 MPaG; the valve used to control the outlet pressure of the steam drum was a pressure control valve. Your boiler is likely larger, but I think the principle for controlling the steam drum remains the same. Adding such a valve should not be a problem; what’s important is to note that the pressure control is related to the pressure of the steam drum itself, and it has nothing to do with the pressure in your main steam pipeline. Were there any issues with controlling the valves in the main steam pipeline when you shut down the boiler in the past? I don’t think there will be much difference compared to using it alone. Also, were there valves in the main steam pipe for export purposes in the past? Was there a safety valve on the drum? If the safety valve is located on the main steam pipeline, then if a control valve is added, a separate safety valve must be installed on the drum

Pressure vessels usually come equipped with valves; for those of smaller capacity and lower pressure, manual valves are used, while for those of larger capacity and higher pressure, electric/pneumatic valves are employed. In addition to the safety valve, there is also an emergency steam release valve. Quoting the regulations: “The main steam valve should be installed near the boiler drum (shell) or at the outlet of the superheater header” ； The main dirt valve of the unit boiler can be installed at the steam turbine inlet ； The main steam valve of a vertical shell and tube boiler can be installed in a location within the boiler room that is convenient for operation ； When multiple boilers are operated in parallel, each steam pipe connecting the boiler to the steam header shall be equipped with two isolation valves. Between these isolation valves, there shall be a drain pipe leading to the atmosphere, along with a valve; the inner diameter of this pipe shall not be less than 18 mm. A vent pipe along with the corresponding valve shall be installed between the boiler outlet and the first isolation valve (main steam valve) ； ”
