Our company’s heat exchangers are used in the sulfuric acid concentration process under negative pressure. Due to the high level of impurities in the medium, blockages occur inside the pores, and these cannot be removed through cleaning; that’s why we came up with this idea for renovation. Is it the titanium dioxide waste sulfuric acid evaporation and concentration project? Replacing it with a tubular type doesn’t help either; it only delays the time until blockage occurs. Moreover, tubular heat exchangers are not suitable for use as evaporators. A small suggestion: with the existing setup, it’s not necessary to try to concentrate the sulfuric acid all at once. It’s better to control the concentration of sulfuric acid; as the concentration of sulfates increases, more filtration units can be used, or after the acid has been concentrated to a certain extent, it can be filtered using a filter press before being sent back for evaporation. If the iron ion level is high, it’s possible to use a freezing crystallization system to first crystallize and separate ferrous sulfate.
Tantalum heat exchangers can replace graphite heat exchangers under certain operating conditions, but their cost is much higher. If it is an inorganic salt crystal, it can be removed through forced circulation filtration, requiring the filter to have high corrosion resistance. We can discuss it in detail if needed.
Siegler can manufacture shell-and-tube heat exchangers, but the price is not cheap.
There’s no need to replace the heat exchanger; it can be cleaned. I’ve cleaned many of them already. Use a calcium sulfate cleaning agent with a pH value of 7.0±0.1 – it is non-corrosive and acts rapidly; dirt is removed at a speed visible to the naked eye.
