For sulfuric acid production, one heat exchanger is used for drying and the first absorption stage, while another heat exchanger is used for the second absorption stage. They are all Alfa Laval products, made of material HD205. The circulating water exchanges heat with 98.5% sulfuric acid; the temperature of the sulfuric acid is around 95 degrees Celsius, and the pressure is 0.4 MPa. Planning to install another plate exchanger, with Trantec and Sanders under consideration. Alfa Laval works well, but **since it’s difficult to purchase, we are considering TransTec and Sanders. There are many domestic versions imitating Afra; unless it’s a special design, most companies have them. It’s a bit cheaper. Chuan Te and Sanders are not sure; the design may differ, but the area difference won’t be significant. If you check the pictures and find that there’s enough space for installation, and if the price is reasonable, then there should be no problems.
Many domestic manufacturers follow the designs of Afha and then develop their own versions. In such applications, what’s important is that the materials used for the plates and seals be of high quality; leading manufacturers of plates probably purchase imported materials, as they need to take into account the effects of concentrated acids and high temperatures, and the seals must have good resistance to these conditions

I would like to analyze it from the perspective of a professional manufacturer. Imported products from abroad are already quite mature; they all come with their own selection software and calculation methods. The difference lies in the structure of the heat exchanger plates. It doesn’t matter which one you choose; as long as the materials are the right ones, there will be no problem. Under the given operating conditions, the material of choice should be at least Hastelloy C-276 or a better grade; recently, material suppliers have mentioned materials that are superior to C-276, but their prices are quite high. The material that can be used for gaskets at present is fluororubber, and the premium variant among fluororubbers is DuPont Vtion-G. Putting foreign products aside, domestic products can also meet the above requirements: first, advancements in molding technology have enabled the compression of various special materials in China; second, the quality of gaskets produced by domestic manufacturers has also reached foreign standards. Currently, the main plate types used in China all come from the Alfa Laval brand, but Alfa Laval is also continuously introducing patented products, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of its offerings. Many of Sanders’ plate designs are modeled after those from Alfa Laval; the aspect ratio and wave depth are quite similar. As for Trant, which is the former Shurip, its panel structure makes it rather difficult to repair; it mostly features an AC-type structure, and it’s hard for laypeople or those who simply use it to understand all its various combination options. In summary, it is recommended to buy well-known products or domestic alternatives, as they are more cost-effective.
