The tube sheet section is calculated based on the tube sheet requirements, and the flange section is calculated based on flange specifications; burns are not a concern – the design determines this!
The tube sheet of a fixed-tube-sheet heat exchanger also serves as the vessel flange for the shell side. The connection welds to the shell-side cylinder are classified into Type B joints and Type C joints according to the type of connection. Surface non-destructive testing is generally required.
Are there any clear regulations? Is it a major design error if the Class C joints between the tube sheet and the shell are not inspected?
