I’m new to the chemical industry; I hope everyone can give me some guidance. I recently received a project related to the reuse of thermal energy from circulating water. The conditions provided by the owner are: the heat flow side uses circulating water, with an inlet temperature of 55°C, an outlet temperature of 29°C, a flow rate of 20 m3/h, and low pressure. The cold stream side uses ordinary industrial water, with an inlet temperature of 25°C and an outlet temperature of 51.5°C; the flow rate is adjustable. The owner’s proposal is to use a spiral plate heat exchanger, with a heat exchange area of around 80 m2. I have a few questions regarding this. 1. Is an outlet temperature of 51.5°C on the cold flow side too high? ; 2. Is it appropriate to use a spiral plate heat exchanger, and is its cost high? I hope the experts here can guide me in selecting a heat exchanger of this type.
Since the pressure is not high, it is recommended to choose a detachable plate heat exchanger.
