Experts! I have a question: When the heat exchanger shell is under negative pressure, should the calculated length of the shell cylinder be the total length of the cylinder, or can it be the maximum distance between the baffle plates? This has a significant impact on the plate thickness; please give some advice!
The length of the entire cylinder is taken; the baffle and the shell are not connected to each other, nor do they serve any reinforcing purpose. The maximum spacing between baffle plates is only useful when calculating the equivalent length for pressure-induced instability of the external pressure on the heat exchange tubes
