As the title suggests, the new regulations require that emergency shut-off valves in flammable and explosive areas must close completely within 10 seconds in the event of an accident. This is practically impossible for gate valves with a diameter larger than 400 mm, not to mention in environments with a large pressure difference before and after the valve. I would like to ask everyone: does this mean that gate valves of large diameter can no longer be used as emergency shut-off valves? Are there any other solutions? What types of emergency shut-off valves do people usually see, and what is their shutdown time?
