Judging from its structure, it seems to be a centrifugal compressor. I would like to ask the experts about the type of this compressor and its detailed working principle. The compressor is a Periflow model, part of the Howden portfolio. Below is the description, but it doesn’t explain what the core component in the middle does~~? ? A profiled impeller wheel rotates within an annular channel, and this motion imparts a swirling helical flow to the process gas. The helical path means that the gas passes through the blades several times. This screw-like movement consists of both tangential and circular flow components; the tangential flow determines the volume of flow, while the circular motion primarily affects the pressure. As a result, each Periflow® compressor can be customized to provide the exact performance levels required. In one rotation, the Periflow® system achieves a level of compression equivalent to that of several centrifugal compressor stages.

Is this using a vortex pump that has been enlarged?
Agreed, it looks like a centrifugal compressor.
