Can Inconel 625 nickel alloy be welded to ordinary carbon steel? What grade of welding rod to use
I don’t know; I’ve never welded it this way. Usually, it’s a flange conversion, right?
It’s best not to weld randomly, as you might get caught~~~~
Direct welding is not possible; flange connection can be used to avoid weak welds or electrochemical corrosion.
We have a high-temperature heat exchanger; one section of its cylinder is made of chromium-molybdenum steel, while another section is made of 800H material. To ensure a smooth transition between these materials, a 600H section is used in between. It has been in use for over a decade without any problems. Similarly, welding 625 with carbon steel should also be no problem; welders designed for 625 can be used. From the perspective of weldability alone, these two materials can be welded directly. Specifically, designers need to fully consider the process characteristics of the materials······
