GB7231-2003 \"Basic Identification Colors, Identification Symbols, and Safety Markings for Industrial Pipelines\" tells us how to apply markings, but it does not specify which pipelines must be marked or which is the mandatory standard I searched on Baidu for a long time, but all the results referred to the GB7231-2003 standard; it didn’t help solve the problem. I’ve come here asking experts to explain it.
Oil (gasoline, diesel, heavy oil, etc.), gas (LPG, natural gas, nitrogen, etc.), air (purified air, unpurified air, etc.), and water (firefighting water, circulating water, etc.) are all identified by different colors to indicate their respective types of media.
All pipes must be labeled. There are different colors, which can be checked online.
Piping is painted to prevent corrosion, and there are uniform regulations regarding the color. As for labeling, there seems to be no mandatory standard; I’m not sure either, because the piping in the installations that were built 10 years ago wasn’t labeled
Colors for pipeline identification in our company: General materials: silver; Acids and bases: purple; Water: bright green; Sewage: black; Air: sky blue; Nitrogen and ammonia: light yellow; Fire protection pipelines and exhaust vents: bright red
Our company has only marked the utility stations; for other materials, there are only direction signs.

It is recommended to do so, as it can meet the requirements for daily pipeline maintenance. It can also make safe production more convenient. For example, labeling on valves and pipes that are opened and closed frequently can help prevent the wrong valve from being used.
Thank you all for your answers; it seems that there are no mandatory standards required. That’s good. The inspection the day before yesterday stated that markings should also be applied to the pipes in the ductwork. We usually put markings near the entrances and exits of the equipment as well as on the pipes on the ground, indicating the type of medium and its flow direction; however, no such markings were present on the ductwork. Since there are many pipes there, the inspection team said that markings must also be added there. I checked the standards but couldn’t find out which ones are mandatory.
