Duplex stainless steel alloy 2205 is a duplex stainless steel composed of 21% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum, and 4.5% nickel-nitrogen alloy. It possesses high strength, good impact toughness, as well as excellent overall and local resistance to stress corrosion, CV548. Chemical composition: C≤0.030, Mn≤2.00, Si≤1.00, P≤0.030, S≤0.020, Cr 22.0–23.0, Ni 4.5–6.5, Mo 3.0–3.5, N 0.14–0.20. It is an austenite-ferritic (duplex) stainless steel that combines the most advantageous properties of both ferritic and austenitic steels. Due to its high levels of chromium and molybdenum, it exhibits excellent resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and uniform corrosion. Its duplex microstructure ensures high resistance to stress corrosion cracking, along with high mechanical strength. 2507 stainless steel is used in the oil and gas industry; in offshore oil platforms (for heat exchanger tubes, water treatment and supply systems, fire protection systems, sprinkler systems, water stabilization systems); in petrochemical equipment; in desalination equipment (including high-pressure pipes and seawater pipes). It is also suitable for mechanical and structural components that require both high strength and high corrosion resistance, as well as for gas purification equipment.
