Type B belt conveyors are highly suitable for transporting various types of goods such as bags and pallets, and they are widely used in the food industry. They consist of drive rollers, frames, and driving components, and offer advantages such as fast transport speeds, gentle operation, and the ability to handle multiple product types simultaneously in a single conveying line. Due to the easy connection of filters between mesh belts, multiple mesh belt lines along with other conveyors or specialized machines can be used to create a complex logistics delivery system that meets various process requirements. With the advancement of modern science and technology, the type B belt conveyor has evolved from a simple conveying line into a mechanical device that can automatically control the transportation of materials. In B-type belt conveyors that are designed for automated operation, the frequency converter plays a key role in determining the power consumption of the entire conveying system. Due to the fact that these conveyors operate at normal frequency for extended periods of time and cannot start or stop smoothly, and since hydraulic couplings are used to enable smooth starting of the belt, this leads to significant fluctuations in grid voltage. The motors experience severe mechanical shocks, high levels of heat generation, and significant wear. The B-type belt conveyor equipment requires extensive maintenance and repair efforts, incurs high costs, and has high energy consumption. Additionally, the short start-up time and high loading force of these conveyors can cause damage to their components, which in turn affects the conveying efficiency of food production companies. As a manufacturer of Type B mesh belt conveyors, we have compiled some frequency conversion modification solutions for such conveyors based on our production and inspection experience as follows. Food production enterprises must take into account the actual conditions on site when deciding on the use of belt conveyors of type B; since the drive motors used for transporting materials operate in two quadrants, inverters of the two-quadrant type should be selected. Based on the operating conditions of the Type B belt conveyor, the selected frequency converter is capable of generating a DC braking torque during heavy-load or no-load startup of the motor, as well as when the machine is shut down. This ensures a smooth start-up of the Type B belt conveyor, reduces interruptions, and minimizes shock to the mechanical equipment. The parameters of the selected frequency converter are as follows. Output power of Type B belt conveyor: 250kW; rated voltage: 660V; rated current: 255A. Output frequency (via frequency converter control): 0~50Hz; adjustment accuracy is ±1%Hz. Protection functions: it features protection against overload, overcurrent, leakage current, phase loss, and undervoltage; the overload capacity is 200% for 60 seconds. The modified drive system consists of a frequency converter → motor → reducer → Type B belt conveyor → belt.
