The laser thickness gauge system is an integrated set of equipment that combines optics, mechanics, electronics, and computer communication. The entire system mainly includes: a measuring vehicle, an on-site power distribution box, the main control cabinet in the terminal room along with industrial computers, monitors, audio-visual alarms, as well as digital display panels on the rolling mill control consoles. Laser thickness gauges enable non-contact, on-line measurement; they can perform multi-point or scanning measurements on large sheets of material, allowing for on-line inspection of the areas that need to be checked. It is a device installed on the production line to perform high-quality inspection of the rolled materials being tested. Laser thickness gauges are mainly divided into portable thickness gauges and fixed thickness gauges. Portable thickness gauges can be moved to any desired position for measurement according to the requirements of the site; when necessary, the support can also be manually pushed or pulled to perform scanning measurements across the width of the workpiece. Fixed thickness gauges are mainly used to measure workpieces with a relatively narrow width range. The advantage of a laser thickness gauge is that it performs non-contact measurement, so its accuracy is not affected by wear, and it is particularly suitable for conducting multiple measurements while the object is in motion.
