A flexible chain conveyor is a type of conveyor that uses a flexible chain; it is a specialized device designed to transport raw materials, semi-finished products, or finished goods in order to improve processing or production efficiency. The basic components include a central control system and flexible conveyor belts. A central control system generally consists of a PLC or PC or microcontroller, sensors, a console, and actuating elements, while a flexible conveyor belt is composed of the following basic components: (1) the conveyor chain, made of high-strength engineering plastic. They can be divided into flat chains, universal chains, steel-top chains, wedge chains, ball chains, brush chains, elastic chains, etc. The conveyor chain utilizes a carefully designed interlocking offset structure and hinge mechanism between its two links, allowing it to bend freely in both horizontal and vertical directions, thereby enabling the entire conveyor belt to turn in three dimensions. (2) The transfer beam is composed of anodized aluminum alloy profiles or stainless steel materials for the surface, along with friction slides. It can be divided into standard type and enhanced type. (3) The conveying frame is also made of aluminum alloy profiles or stainless steel materials with their surfaces treated by anodization. It is divided into light, medium, and heavy types. (4) Drive mechanism, consisting of aluminum drive heads and tails cast using powder metallurgy processes. It is divided into single-drive, dual-drive, and intermediate-drive types. Active components are generally motors. (5) Guiding device: side guards that keep the material moving in the middle position of the chain plate. (6) Turning device, an internal support mechanism for the chain plate when it turns. They are divided into horizontal elbows, vertical elbows, horizontal wheel elbows, and horizontal wheels. (7) Attachments: include connectors, liquid holding trays, etc. A flexible chain conveyor operates by means of frictional sliding between the conveyor chain (conveyor belt or conveyor plate) and the support beams, thereby transporting materials continuously. Conveyor belts are commonly used in enterprises and departments that operate on an assembly-line basis. Flexible chain conveyors feature agility and aesthetics, easy installation, standard design, as well as being clean and pollution-free. They are widely used in industries with strict hygiene requirements, such as food, pharmaceuticals, canned beverages, paper products, dairy, cosmetics, and tobacco.
