What are the common repair methods for broken and missing gear teeth? If it’s not repaired, would it work to raise the gear?
If the gear is damaged, it is recommended to replace it; simply lifting the gear will not work. Methods for repairing gears include: 1. The reversal method, which involves swapping the position of the gear or turning it 180 degrees so that its unworn side can be used; it is best to use the gears in pairs after such reversal. 2. The toothed ring embedding method is mainly used for tower gears. 3. The tooth-inlay method is mainly used for gears that are not subject to high loads or high rotational speeds. When individual teeth are damaged, a trapezoidal groove is carved at the root of the gear using a planer; a new tooth core is then pressed in, welded in place, and finally shaped. 4. Cladding method: simple to operate and provides good repair quality.
