As the title suggests, it is a central heating project that uses a wet flue gas desulfurization process. The chimneys supplied by the manufacturer are made of ND steel, and ordinary phenolic paint is used for anti-corrosion treatment inside them. Is this method of anti-corrosion sufficient? Are there any other anti-corrosion methods with a longer lifespan?
ND steel makes it possible. However, the resistance of phenolic paint to temperatures, high humidity, sulfides, and nitrides remains questionable. The anti-corrosion coating can be made from imported Savijin VEF fiber coating, which has a very long service life; there are cases from abroad showing its effectiveness over 20 years. Its use has been introduced more slowly in China, but even in the earliest cases, the anti-corrosion coating showed no signs of degradation after 7 years.
ND steel is used in environments with high sulfur content in flue gases; it is suitable for coal-fired and oil-fired boilers, as well as equipment such as economizers, air preheaters, waste heat boilers, heat exchangers, and evaporators. It is also applicable to various products that require a certain degree of resistance to corrosion caused by sulfuric acid dew points. However, for flues used in wet flue gas desulfurization, if no anti-corrosion measures are taken, dew point corrosion over one or two years is likely to cause holes to form in the flue.
Internally, ordinary phenolic paint is used for corrosion protection. However, in environments with high humidity, severe acid or alkali conditions, as well as high temperatures, this method of corrosion protection is absolutely not sufficient. It is recommended that you use our company’s high-temperature and high-humidity resistant heavy-duty corrosion protection coatings; these products have already been used by various desulfurization equipment manufacturers! I work in chimney construction; building new chimneys, as well as carrying out anti-corrosion treatments for the inner walls of chimneys after desulfurization, are my areas of expertise. I am also aware of companies such as Savizhen, BINGGAODE, WanHong OM, Chengdu Silibao, titanium alloy manufacturers, and Yifang Technology – all of which produce materials for inner wall anti-corrosion. I have worked with some of these companies before, and if there’s a chance, we could also collaborate and exchange ideas
