Question: For UNS NO6625 material, can ASTM G28 and ASTM G48 be used as substitutes for each other? In other words, is it sufficient to conduct just one of these two tests? Or rather, they cannot replace each other; both need to be done. Judging from their names, ASTM G28 relates to intergranular corrosion, while ASTM G48 deals with pitting and crevices (crevices are not required at this stage); the corrosion mechanisms are different, but both tests should be conducted. But some colleagues think that it’s fine to just do one of them. Seeking guidance from professionals, thank you.
