Is acetic anhydride the anhydride of acetic acid? Are there chloride and bromide ions? For glacial acetic acid at room temperature, 316L is used. The acetate dehydration tower in my previous company, which operated at around 100 degrees, was made of TA2 and 16MnR composite plates. 304L definitely won’t work here; 2205DSS can be used if the level is below 20 ppm. If the levels of chloride and bromide ions are high, then titanium materials are the only option.
