The factory is now planning to carry out inspections to check the thickness of online high-pressure valve assemblies and the valve bodies themselves. How can it be determined whether there is corrosion or thinning in the online valve bodies, and what are the criteria used for this?
It should be inspected using X-rays or ultrasonic detectors. Valve inspection has not been performed, but the thinning of the wall thickness in online pipelines is detected using an ultrasonic detector.
It is best to perform this inspection during the major overhaul of the entire parking structure: open the valve covers of the high-pressure valves for a visual inspection, use a thickness gauge to create relevant records, and then include these valves in the system’s equipment management based on their degree of wear and the time they have been in use.
We use an ultrasonic thickness gauge to measure wall thickness; I’m not sure if it can be used for this purpose
Thank you all; currently, an ultrasonic thickness gauge is being used. The basis for determining whether a valve has thinned is by comparing the thickness measurements at the corresponding locations; a large difference in these values indicates thinning.
Ultrasonic thickness gauges seem to be commonly used for measuring thickness these days!
Besides what everyone has mentioned, CR/DR technology has applications. It was developed earlier abroad; not much work has been done on it in our country, haha
Before installing the new valve, use an ultrasonic thickness gauge to locate and monitor it, draw diagrams to record the thickness, and then carry out regular monitoring by recording the data and comparing the differences. It is important to ensure that the monitoring location remains fixed and does not change significantly.
