Corrosion is one of the main reasons for the failure of mechanical components due to chemical or electrochemical actions by the surrounding medium. It not only causes corrosion of large amounts of metal materials, resulting in production shutdown losses that are difficult to estimate, which is why particular attention is paid to chemical anti-corrosion measures. Thermal spray coatings are applied in corrosive media, especially those with strong corrosivity. The reason why progress has not been made in the past was mainly that the sealing agent issue could not be resolved. It is well known that spray coatings contain pores; if these pores are not sealed, various acids, alkalis, and organic substances can penetrate into them, causing the coating to peel off and compromising its anti-corrosion effectiveness. In line with the requirements of anti-corrosion projects, China has recently developed dozens of types of pore-sealing agents, including those based on polyurethanes, organic polymers, resins, plastics, and adhesives. These agents are suitable for use in environments subject to corrosion by acids, alkalis, salts, and organic substances, and can be used at temperatures ranging from 80 to 350°C. The use of ceramic coatings, oxide coatings, or metal or alloy coatings, along with the selection of appropriate sealing agents depending on the different media, has been applied in many chemical corrosive environments with good results. This series of sealants has been patented and awarded an **Invention Award. The successful research on these sealants has led to new advancements in the application of domestic thermal spraying technology in chemical corrosion protection projects.
