Other safety measures: 1) For sulfuric acid fuming storage tanks, to ensure safety, the flow rate at which material is fed into the empty tank should be controlled using a pump. Dilute sulfuric acid reacts with carbon steel to produce hydrogen; therefore, during maintenance, unless it is confirmed that the tank has been fully emptied, all potential sources of fire in the vicinity must be completely eliminated. 2) In the event of a fire in the vicinity, water should be sprayed on the combustible materials nearby, and high-pressure misted water or foam should be used to cool the tank walls; it is strictly prohibited to pour water directly into the sulfuric acid tank. 3) Ferrous sulfate may accumulate in the vent pipe, and prolonged operation could lead to blockage of the pipe opening; therefore, this opening should be inspected regularly to ensure safety during unloading. 4) To ensure the safe operation of the storage tank, the thickness of the tank body (including the roof, walls, and bottom) should be inspected at least once every 2 years, while an internal inspection should be carried out at least once every 5 years, in order to detect leaks promptly and carry out repairs in a timely manner. 5) For lined sulfuric acid tanks, it is necessary to carefully check the degree of lining corrosion and any leakage issues, and carry out repairs promptly. 6) Timely repair any potential hazards in the overall fiberglass tank.
