The images below also show use indoors: one unit is protected with alkyd enamel, while the other is protected with epoxy enamel. The results vary depending on the device: those that have been in use for about 2 years (with alkyd enamel coating) are either difficult to clean or impossible to clean, as oil stains have penetrated deep into the surface of the coating, making cleaning extremely challenging. Furthermore, signs of oil penetration have appeared on the surface of the coating after scrubbing. The other one doesn’t have stains penetrating the coating surface, making it easy to clean; it has been in use for over 10 years now.
It’s easy to understand that different coatings result in different layer properties, but are the operating conditions the same as well? Medium temperature, pressure, vibration, etc. The impact of the mechanical seal flushing fluid also needs to be considered.
